‘Hilman gave RM150 to Gombak Setia voters to win seat’

An election petitioner who is challenging Hilman Idham’s victory with a razor thin majority in Gombak Setia claimed that the PN candidate gave RM150 to several voters.

Registered voter Mohd Shaffie Omar claimed that an inducement of RM150 was given out to voters at Kompleks Sukan Sinamax in Sri Gombak between 4 and 5 August.

The amount also was given to voters at Lot 2634 Sungai Chinchin Pinggiran 5, Kampung Sungai Chinchin Kuala Lumpur on 9 August.

The action, he said, is an offence under section 32 (c) of the Election Offences Act 1954 meant to sway votes in favour of Hilman.

Hilman meanwhile is prepared to face the court in a 10 day court hearing from 11 December.

Shafie is represented by the legal firm Hafarizam Wan & Aisha Mubarak.

During the state polls 12 August, Hilman won with a majority of just 58 votes in a three cornered fight.

Selangor Umno chief Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin was a whisker away from victory.
