No way for opposition to form a backdoor government
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has given his assurance that there is no likelihood at all for the opposition bloc – Perikatan Nasional (PN)- to seize control and form backdoor government.
He said this is based on the fact that the national unity government has a supermajority that would last until the end of its term.
“Our (roof) is made of concrete and not ‘attap’,” he said, referring to traditional roofs made of palm fronds.
“Those who always think like that, their roof is made out of attap. In Putrajaya now, it is made of concrete. Any efforts from the Opposition will fail,” he said during the Malaysia Madani dialogue session at the Madani Government One Year Anniversary Programme closing ceremony.
He was responding to a suggestion from the attendee who proposed that all the parties in the government consolidate into a single party to prevent attempts of changing governments through defections.
PN has been campaigning on taking over the federal government through defections even though its numbers is way below 100 out of 222 seats in the Dewan Rakyat.
