Anwar to continue citing Quran, with Jakim’s advice

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim vowed to continue citing the Quran, albeit with advice from the Islamic Development Department (Jakim).

“I will continue to cite other Quranic verses and their interpretations in future assemblies.

“But I will refer to Jakim first so there will be no more controversy,” he said at the Prime Minister’s Department’s monthly assembly in Putrajaya today.

He justified it on the grounds that inculcation of values must not be forgotten as the nation moves towards a digital economy.

The advice from Jakim was necessary to avoid another commotion.

Just last month he was criticised over his remarks on the “Ashabul Kahfi” (companions of the cave).
