US struck down 3 Houthi anti-ship missiles

US Central Command forces yesterday conducted strikes against three Houthi anti-ship missiles that were aimed into the Southern Red Sea and were prepared to launch, the US military said on X.

US forces identified the missiles in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen and determined that they presented an imminent threat to merchant vessels and the US Navy ships in the region. US forces subsequently struck and destroyed the missiles in self-defence,” the US Central Command said in the post on X.

The incident, the latest amid growing tensions in the Red Sea that have disrupted global trade and raised fears of supply bottlenecks, took place around 6.45pm Yemen time (1545 GMT), the US Central Command added, reported Reuters.

Attacks by Iran – aligned Houthis on ships in and around Red Sea have slowed Asia – Europe trade and raises an alarm as it serves to escalate the ongoing war in Gaza.
