Israel to pressure Hamas to withdraw ceasefire deal

Israel is working towards pressuring Hamas to withdraw a ceasefire deal which Tel Aviv deemed as delusional. It is also not offering a counter proposal.

Earlier this week Hamas put forth a ceasefire plan over a four and a half month period that would include hostage release in three stages. This was in response to a plan initiated by international mediators.

“The main target now is to create pressure from the Americans and other countries on Qatar, and from there on Hamas, in addition to the military pressure, to bring them down from their delusional demands,” said an official, reported several media agencies.

The United States along with regional mediators – Egypt and Qatar, have continued pushing for hostage release and a truce since a Hamas delegation is already in Cairo for the talks.

Israel was pressured to send a delegation by Egypt but it opted against it.
