Lodge reports instead of airing price hikes on social media

Rawang assemblyman Chua Wei Kiat called upon the public to lodge formal complaints instead of amplifying matters on social media if they come across instances of price hikes.

“Users are advised not to sensationalise on social media but also to promptly report any unreasonable price informed if seen or faced with a price increase in goods,” said the PKR lawmaker on his Facebook page.

“It is important for all parties to pay attention, cooperate, and be more aware of this issue by making direct reports to the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP),” he later added in the post.

He said this in view of the 2% increase in Sales and Services Tax (SST) effective from 1 March.

He also echoed calls by Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Ali who announced Ops Kesan since 1 March to stem out price hikes.
