Sabah, Sarawak more more moderate and harmony compared to Peninsula Malaysia

Sabah and Sarawak adheres to moderation and harmony better than those living in Peninsula Malaysia said Tan Sri Goh Tian Chuan, the president of Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah.

“In today’s Malaysia, the cultural disparities between East and West are pronounced, with Sabah and Sarawak exhibiting greater moderation and harmony compared to the West.

“Recently, several irresponsible politicians have, for personal agendas, been undermining the societal harmony of our country by exploiting cultural, religious, and racial issues,” he said at a flag raising ceremony at the Penang Chinese Town Hall this morning in conjunction with the 39th National Chinese Cultural Festival.

The festival is scheduled to take place from June to September this year in Sarawak.

The National Chinese Cultural Festival for this year will be hosted by the president of the Federation of Chinese Associations of Sarawak (Sa Hua Zong) Datuk Richard Wee Liang Chiat and his team.

He also hopes that the unity government’s central leadership would promptly take effective measures to curb the continued sensationalising of racial, religious, and royal (3R) issues by individuals with ulterior motives.

He reiterated the need for the government to adopt a ‘zero-tolerance’ stance and take decisive action, or else some quarters would leverage on racial issues for personal gain and wreak havoc upon society.
