Constitution (Amendment) bill tabled for first reading

Four bills are tabled today in the Dewan Rakyat for the first reading. The most controversial of the four is the Constitution (Amendment) Bill 2024 that is related to the conferring of citizenship to babies born to Malaysian mothers abroad.

Another vital bill is the Cyber Security 2024 Bill. Two other bills are amendments to Income tax bill and Labuan Business Activities Tax bill.

The oral reply session would see Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin (PN-Masjid Tanah) asking the government a guarantee on subsidised necessities such as sugar, packet oil and rice.

Oscar Ling Chai Yew (PH-Sibu) asked the Defence Minister to state the implementation of steps that has been outlined in the Defence White Paper.

The debate continues on amendments to Environment Quality Act. Amendments to the Licensed Land Surveyors bill is scheduled for debate today too. Both the bills come under the Natural Resources and Environment Sustainability Ministry.

Supply Bill (Expenditure Reallocation) would be the most important bill debated today.
