Akmal: Economy deteriorated because of you, Nga

Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Salleh doubts that the boycott movement contributed to Malaysia’s slow economic growth or due to Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming’s foolishness.

“So are you saying that the reason the nation’s economy is tanking is because of the boycott campaign?

“Back in Najib Razak’s time, we had a boycott campaign too, but the economy still thrived,” Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Salleh said in his Facebook post, today.

“To the unwise Nga Kor Ming, the economy is deteriorating because there are ministers like you. Stupid!” he added.

He was referring to former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak who is currently imprisoned.

Akmal led in boycotting KK Mart to the point that there were incidents of Molotov cocktails on the outlets.

Yesterday, Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming cautioned Malaysians that boycotts done irresponsibly would have consequences.

“Today’s news highlights the consequences of irresponsible boycotts, leaving our workers to suffer in its wake. Let’s not fall into the trap of provocateurs.

“Our country needs all parties to put in the effort to develop the nation’s economy,” Nga said in his X account yesterday.

The post was accompanied by a picture from Sin Chew Daily that highlighted the struggle a couple working at KFC faced due to the recent boycott trend in Malaysia.

KFC is among the hundreds of companies that is being boycotted even though the company is owned by Muslims.

The tale of the disabled couple working at KFC was first shared by Human Resources Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong on 10 April via Facebook.

According to the Steven, the disabled couple who worked at a KFC, have their monthly salary cut to RM 600, because their working hours were significantly reduced due to the boycott movement.
