KKB by-election: Selangor BN chief downplays MCA’s call as opinion

Selangor BN chief Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin has downplayed calls by Selangor MCA Youth chief Tan Jie Sen for MCA to contest in the Kuala Kubu Barharu by-election as mere opinion.

“It is the opinion of some MCA members and leaders, and it is not a conclusive stance,” he said, reported FMT.

Tan criticised BN chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for announcing that BN would not the by-election without discussing it at the BN level.

The MCA leader also proposed that MCA contested independently and play the role of an opposition if his party won.

The Kuala Kubu Baharu seat fell vacant with the death of DAP’s three-term assemblyman Lee Kee Hiong on March 21.
