DAP grateful but won’t force others

DAP is grateful for the assistance given by Pakatan Harapan components in the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.

On that note, the party wouldn’t force its allies to support and assist it, said DAP secretary general Anthony Loke.

“Whoever comes to help, we are grateful, but we won’t force anyone who doesn’t come,” said Loke, reported China Press.

He said this in response to a question whether the allied party of the Pakatan Harapan coalition would come to the Kuala Kubu Bharu constituency by-election nomination centre today.

He said that every vote from every ethnic group is important, and they will strive to win every vote during the two-week campaign period.

The Kuala Kubu Bharu by-election was called following the demise of Lee Kiong Hiong, a three-term assemblyman representing the DAP in the constituency.

DAP is fielding Pang Sock Tao to defend the seat.

Recently controversy erupted after MCA president Datuk Dr Wee Ka Doing clarified his party would not assist.

MCA is in BN coalition.

Both PH and BN along with coalitions in Sabah and Sarawak form the federal government.
