13% salary increment would be passed with style in parliament

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is confident that parliament would unanimously approve the 13% remuneration increase for civil servants plan that he had announced yesterday.

He was confident that no MP would oppose the bill and it would pass in style.

He also revealed that most of the top leaders in the unity government are supportive of this move.

“Deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Sarawak premier Abang Johari Openg and Sabah chief minister Hajiji Noor have all given their support.

“So don’t worry, God willing, Parliament will approve this decision in style so that we can implement it on Dec 1,” he said in his speech at the home ministry’s Aidilfitri celebration.

Yesterday Anwar announced the highest pay increment at 13 percent. The pay increase would be implemented from December this year involving a budget of RM10 billion.

In addition to that civil servants at the lowest salary scale would have a salary hike from TM1,795 per month to RM2,000.
