MITI to draft Semiconductor Strategic Plan

The Ministry of Investment Trade and Industry would be drafting the Semiconductor Strategic Plan, said deputy minister Liew Chin Tong.

“MITI has been tasked by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to draft the Semiconductor Strategic Plan.

“Hence the inputs from UOB and other organisations are greatly appreciated.”

He also stressed the importance of the semiconductor industry to Malaysia.

“Semiconductor is the most consequential industry of our time. Malaysia is uniquely positioned in the global supply chain as we have more than 50 years of experience in the industry.,” he said, via Facebook.

He said this after hosting UOB Bank CEO Ng Wei Wei and her team to learn about the bank’s experience in funding small and medium sized firms in the semiconductor supply chain.
