When would we know about Google’s investment?

Google’s investment in Malaysia will be made public soon, said Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz said.

Google president and chief investment officer Ruth Porat had led her team in a virtual meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Month.

“Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo and I also attended this virtual meeting. The discussion covers, among others, the investment in our country, the amount of which will be announced after being approved.

“I am made to understand that the announcement will be made in the near future,” he told the media after a dinner reception in honour of the Saudi Arabian delegation to Malaysia yesterday.

Reskilling and upskilling of Malaysians in three sectors – education, agriculture and health and expertise exchange are among the issues that was discussed.

The Digital Ministry would be in charge on the use of artificial intelligence.

Zafrul’s ministry and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority are making the due preparation.

Anwar had revealed that he would be having a meeting with Google yesterday.
