PKR’s Saifuddin confident of Indian voters
PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail is confident that Indian voters will give their full support to Pakatan Harapan candidate Pang Sock Tao in the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.
“Although certain quarters are asking the Indian community to remain neutral and not vote, I don’t think they will easily fall for the bait.
“I am very confident that Indian voters will act wisely and step forward for their future and well-being by electing a representative from the unity government on May 11,” Saifuddin (above) said at a meeting with leaders of the Kuala Kubu Bharu Indian community in Hulu Selangor yesterday.
Over 100 Indian community leaders consisting of NGO representatives, political parties and school parent teacher associations attended the meeting organised by the Hulu Selangor parliament coordinator Dr Sathia Prakash Nadarajan.
Urimai has been campaigning for a boycott against Pakatan even though it did not field a candidate.
The Indian votes are seen as crucial since the Malays are overwhelmingly supporting Perikatan Nasional whereas the Chinese community are rooting for Pang.
Under such a scenario, Indians would be kingmakers if they turn out to vote in full force.
About 18 percent or 7,200 of Kuala Kubu Baharu voters make up the Indian voters.
Pang is in a four-cornered fight to retain the semi urban mixed constituency on May 11.
