And the party that wins Kuala Kubu Baharu is…
In less than 48 hours, the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election is about to take place.
Both major political coalitions – Pakatan Harapan and Perikatan Nasional’s machinery have intensified their campaign.
“Indian voters are definitely kingmakers in this by-election,” said USM based political scientist Sivamurugan Pandian who was in Kuala Kubu Baharu last night.
“Both machineries are targeting the gray voters and out of town voters. There are about 7,000 of them,” he told Harapan Daily, in reference to voters who are out of town.
Both opposing coalitions also held their mega ceramah session last night.
He added that there are growing concern that the voters outside of Kuala Kubu Baharu may not turn up to cast their votes.
“They know that they can’t change the governments,” he said.
He also stated his prediction on the outcome of the by-election.
“Pakatan Harapan would win by a slimmer majority,” he said.
During the state polls last year, Lee Kee Hiong secured the seat for a third term with 4,119 votes.
DAP’s Pang Sock Tao is contesting on behalf of Pakatan Harapan.
Also vying for the seat are Bersatu’s Khairul Azhari Saut from Perikatan Nasional, Hafızah Zainuddin from Parti Rakyat Malaysia (PRM), and Independent Nyau Ke Xin.
