Malaysia to collaborate with Netherlands on semiconductors

Malaysia wants to enhance bilateral trade and economic collaboration with the Netherlands on strategic sectors, especially semiconductors.

Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Liew Chin Tong met Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Liesje Schreinemacher at the Hague to discuss the matter.

“When in the Netherlands for a layover on the way to Peru for the APEC Ministers Responsible for Trade (MRT) Meeting, I had a great meeting here in The Hague with H.E Liesje Schreinemacher, Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation.

“Our discussion centred around the most important topic of the time – semiconductors,” he said, via a post on LinkedIn.

His ministry is pushing for semiconductor industry.

He had previously announced that his ministry would be drafting the Semiconductor Strategic Plan. This was followed up by an engagement with the stakeholders of the semiconductor industry in Penang and Kedah.
