Deputy minister, LGM looking into resolving labour shortage in rubber tapping

Deputy Minister of Plantation and Commodities Chan Foong Hin said that he and the Malaysian Rubber Board (LGM) are looking into addressing the problem of labour shortage in the in the rubber tapping industry.

“Malaysian Rubber Board and I are committed to supporting the rubber industry, particularly in addressing the critical issue of labour shortages. Through collaborative efforts, we aim to find innovative solutions to sustain and advance this vital sector,” said Chan, via LinkedIn.

He said that after visiting N-Out Plantation in Kuala Kubu Baharu recently.

He pointed out that rubber tapping remained a labour intensive process that is a significant challenge which contributed to the ongoing labour shortage.
