Ramanan dismisses calls for special committee
Entrepreneur and cooperative development deputy minister Datuk R Ramanan dismissed the need to set up a special committee to oversee the program implementation and funds that are channelled to the Indian community.
“In my opinion, we have too many committees, so there is no need to form another one.
“There is already a team in place and a network to follow. Just follow it. The problem now is everyone want to sit in one place to do one task. Ten end up doing the same thing.
“A says go right, B says go left… in the end they would reach the moon. Nothing is right,” he told the media after officiating Bank Rakyat annual general meeting.
He said this in response to suggestion from the Selangor Indian Consultative Council that called for the formation of a committee to oversee the implementation of all planning and programs meant for Indians.
SICC chairman Charles Santiago said the committee can be placed under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to monitor development allocation meant for Indians that are channelled through MITRA and Tekun.
