Let the truth and vindication come out

Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh welcomed the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) probe into the Selangor demand responsive transit (DRT) proof of concept pilot project.

“Now that the probe has started, I want to see truth and vindication come out of this investigation. Malaysia deserves nothing less,” she said via an Instagram post.

She said it would not be proper for her to comment as it may be construed as an interference with ongoing investigations.

“In fact, it was for this reason I had not said anything sooner as in my view the best way forward in dealing with such claims is to leave it to the relevant authorities to investigate them,” she added.

She also said she wanted to thank all who have reached out to her in solidarity.

Yesterday, the MACC announced they are investigating a contract awarded to Asia Mobility Sdn Bhd, a company linked to Yeoh’s husband, M Ramachandran, in response to new complaints.

Urimai chairman P. Ramasamy previously alleged the Selangor government directly awarded the DRT pilot project contract to Asia Mobility Sdn Bhd.

Selangor Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, recently said that Asia Mobility Sdn Bhd is but one of two companies participating in the proof of concept (POC) state-approved by the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) for the DRT pilot project.

The other company is Badan Bas Coach Sdn Bhd.

Selangor State Investment, Trade, and Mobility Committee chairman Ng Sze Han said that the participation of these two companies in the POC stage followed a Request-for-Proposal (RFP) process, not direct negotiation as alleged by certain parties.

“The decision to involve only these two companies, Asia Mobility and Badan Bas, was made because when the State Government decided to start the bus-on-demand proof of concept process, only these two companies were licensed by the federal agency, the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD), to participate in the proof of concept,” he said on 29 May.
