Fahmi demands Penang-based lawyer to apologise
Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil demanded Penang-based lawyer Shamsher Singh Thind to apologise to his deputy, Teo Nie Ching today.
He reiterated that Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) Teo did not direct MCMC to remove Penang-based lawyer Singh’s Facebook post.
“The accusations against the deputy minister by certain individuals are not accurate, they are wrong, and I hope he apologises to the deputy minister,” said Fahmi, reported Sin Chew Daily
On Wednesday, Singh alleged that his Facebook post, which questioned the involvement of Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh’s husband, M. Ramachandran, in the demand responsive transit (DRT) pilot project, was blocked by the MCMC, allegedly under the direction of Teo.
However, the MCMC denied this yesterday, stating that they took action after objectively reviewing the post and finding its content false, misleading, and in violation of Meta’s community guidelines.
“In a post on June 3, the Facebook account owner gave the impression that Teo was behind the decision to block the post.
“MCMC would like to stress that this is not true,” MCMC said, reported Free Malaysia Today.
