Malaysia to deepen ties with China via ASEAN

Malaysia is looking at the possibility of deepening its collaboration via ASEAN with China, revealed Deputy Minister of Investment Trade and Industry Liew Chin Tong from next year.

This is in light with Malaysia assuming the ASEAN chairmanship in 2025.

“I received H.E. Shi Zhongjun, Secretary General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) at my office,” said Liew via Facebook.

“ACC is an inter-governmental organisation co-founded by the 10 ASEAN Member States and China, looking into deepening collaboration in trade and investment, culture, and tourism, among others.

“We discussed potential cooperation next year when Malaysia assumes the ASEAN Chairmanship.”

This seems to be the right move as both Malaysia and China also celebrated the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties recently.
