KK Mart socks controversy: Court to decide on 15 July
The court decision on the representation submitted to the Attorney General’s Chambers by the founders and owners of KK Supermart & Superstore Sdn Bhd Group would be made on 15 July by the Sessions Court.
Founder and executive chairman Datuk Seri Dr Chai Kee Kan and his wife Datin Seri Loh Siew Mui filed the representation through their lawyers when they were charged on 26 March for wounding the religious sensitivities of Muslims.
Representation by the socks supplier Xin Jiang Chang Sdn Bhd and its three directors would also be determined on the same date.
They were charged under section 109 of the Penal Code and section 298 for abetment by supplying KK Super Mart with the alleged socks that had the Allah word.
The date was set by Sessions Court judge Muhamad Anas Mahadzir.
The convenience store chain has been mired in controversy since 13 March, when the controversial socks were discovered in the Bandar Sunway outlet.
