No connection between Yeoh and the DRT project
No connection between Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh Tseow Tsuan and the awarding of the contract to Asia Mobility Sdn Bhd said Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki.
“The investigation we are currently conducting focuses on the procedures regarding the awarding of the contract to the company.
“However, as I have stated before, so far there appears to be no connection between the Youth and Sports Ministry or, more specifically, the minister in question and the awarding of the contract,” he said, reported New Straits Times.
He said this following the launch of a book named ‘The Sin of Corruption: A Religious Perspective’ here today.
It was previously reported that the MACC had launched an investigation into the contract awarded to Asia Mobiliti Technologies Sdn Bhd for the Selangor Mobility Initiative.
Sources revealed that new complaints have emerged, alleging that the Selangor government appointed a minister’s husband to develop a proof of concept for a transportation project.
Yeoh has faced scrutiny over the demand-responsive transit (DRT) project managed by Asia Mobility Sdn Bhd, a company co-founded by her husband, M. Ramachandran.
Urimai chairman P. Ramasamy had alleged that the Selangor government directly awarded the contract for the DRT pilot project to Asia Mobility Technologies Sdn Bhd, co-owned by M. Ramachandran, husband of Yeoh.
