Skanda Sashti Kavasam rendition in Johor next month
Following the successful rendition of the Hindu devotional song – Skanda Sashti Kavasam at the Sri Subramaniar Swamy Temple in Batu Caves, Selangor, a group of Hindus are emulating this same feat down south in Johor.
The event is led by Gunalan Krishnasamy who had attended the rendition in Batu Caves on June 1.
“I am organising this along with 40 other volunteers to foster unity among the Hindus and to educate our children on the importance of Hindu prayers and devotional songs since the community are facing a lot of challenges lately,” he told Harapan Daily.
He was referring to a plethora of issues ranging from videos that insult Hinduism to conversion of minors.
The rendition will be held at the Arulmigu Sri Balasubramaniar Temple in Skudai, Johor on July 13. It is scheduled to begin at 9am.
Aside from the devotional song, there would also be rendition of the Thevaram – Hindu devotional songs that were composed in the 7th and 8th century.
This would be followed by a brief explanation of the Skanda Sashti Kavasam.
Skanda Sashti Kavasam is a Hindu devotional song rendered to Lord Muruga.
