More support for Malaysia’s sports industry

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim reiterated the government’s intention to provide due consideration and attention in developing Malaysia’s sports industry, particularly concerning the youth.

“Despite facing economic constraints, I affirm that special considerations will be given to enhance local sports performance,” he said via a Facebook post.

He also said that sports activities in Malaysia are integral to Malaysia culture.

“Furthermore, sports activities in our country are integral to our culture, capable of elevating the quality of life for our people and promoting a healthy lifestyle across all segments of society,” he said.

Anwar hopes Malaysia sportsmen success will ignite the spirit of everyone in the national sports industry to strive diligently for global success.

He was referring to last night’s 2023 National Sports Awards, where Datuk Mohd Syarul Azman Mahen Abdullah, a former national bodybuilding champion, was named National Sportsman, while national tenpin bowler Natasha Mohamed Roslan was honored as National Sportswoman.

“May this success ignite the spirit of all involved in the national sports industry to strive diligently in achieving success on the global stage, thus continuing to enhance our country’s reputation,” he said.
