Priyanka Gandhi finally makes her electoral debut
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra – the sister of Rahul Gandhi – is finally making an election debut in the seat of Wayanad, Kerala.
Rahul Gandhi, a leader of the Indian National Congress, had won both Wayanad and Raw Bareli in Uttar Pradesh during the recent Lok Sabha. He has relinquished the Wayanad seat.
“I am very happy to be able to represent Wayanad and I will not let them feel his [Rahul Gandhi’s] absence,” she said earlier this week.
“I will work hard and I will try my best to make everyone happy and be a good representative.”
The entrance of Priyanka into electoral politics has been awaited for a long time by INC supporters.
Aside from Rahul and Priyanka, their mother Sonia is a member of the Rajya Sabha – the equivalent to Malaysia’s Dewan Negara.
