Towards making ECRL a regional railway centre
Chinese Premier Li Qiang who was here for the past three days, in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of Malaysia – China diplomatic relations, welcomed the idea of making East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) a regional railway centre.
“During the ECRL Gombak Station ground breaking ceremony which was attended also by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Li Qiang welcomed the notion for us to turn ECRL into a regional railway centre that connects Thailand, Laos and China,” said Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook via Facebook.
“We will cooperate with Thailand and Laos to realise the Pan Asian Railway Network,” he added.
Loke also said that Li Qiang’s visit to Malaysia was successful as many bilateral meetings and programs were held in conjunction with the anniversary.
ECRL would be part of the eastern route for the Pan Asian Railway Network.
