Mydin offers alternative attire for Olympic contingent

The official attire for the Malaysian contingent at the Paris Olympics has been criticized, prompting Mydin to capitalize on the situation by sharing their staff uniforms and stating they are ready to represent Malaysia.

“We are ready to represent Malaysia,” the post said.

This post shared a photo of Mydin employees lined up, dressed in uniforms of yellow and black, which at first glance resemble the new national team sports outfits.

In particular, the women’s uniforms feature a black main body with yellow sleeves on both sides, mirroring the design of the new national team sports outfits, which have a black main body and gold sleeves on both sides.

Numerous netizens have commended Mydin for its quick action in capitalizing on current trending topics.

“Mydin is always ahead,” a Facebook user named Alif Osman said.

However, some netizens also joked that Mydin cannot represent Malaysia because many of its employees are foreigners.

“Cannot represent Malaysia because most of the staff are from Bangladesh, Nepal, and India,” said a Facebook user named Mohdrazwan Ismail from Bang Rajan.

On June 23, Malaysia unveiled the official attire for its national contingent at various sporting events, including collared shirts, t-shirts, and jackets, during the Olympic Day celebration at a local shopping centre.

However, sports enthusiasts on social media criticized the design, describing it as outdated and uninspiring compared to previous outfits worn by the national contingent.
