Ramlan Harun takes over as EC chairman

Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali announced the appointment of Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun as the new Election Commission chairman effective from today.

The appointment has been consented by the King, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim.

Ramlan, 60, who holds a Masters degree in land resource management from Universiti Putra Malaysia, started his career as an assistant director at the then housing and local government ministry.

Ramlan was previously chief secretary in the Rural Development Ministry since 2021.

Ramlan’s appointment to fill the vacancy left by Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh who led the EC for four years.
