Nenggiri by-election scheduled for August 17

The Election Commission (EC) has fixed August 17 as the by-election date for Nenggiri state in Kelantan. 

The early voting is fixed on August 13 and nominations will be held on August 3.

This was announced by the newly minted EC chairman, Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun.

The announcement by EC comes following the official announcement by the Kelantan State Assembly Speaker Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah who declared the Nenggiri state seat vacant.

The move to vacate the seat came about as the result of Bersatu amending its party constitution.

The incumbent state assemblyman for Nenggiri is Mohd Azizi Abu Naim.

Azizi had won the seat during the state election held last year with a majority of 810 votes.

Azizi is also Gua Musang MP.
