Fadhlina Sidek: Anti-bullying programs vital for student safety
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek emphasised the necessity to strengthen anti-bullying system in schools to ensure the safety of the students.
“The reporting system has been strengthened to facilitate complaints from students and parents.
“It is important that through cooperation between school leadership at all levels and the Ministry of Education, every complaint can be properly resolved,” she said.
She added that it is important to report bullying incidents promptly to prevent them from being overlooked and to ensure swift action can be taken.
“We don’t want these incidents to be swept under the rug,” she said, reported Oriental Daily.
She said this after launching the 2024 Kerian District Anti-Bullying Program at SMJK Krian.
Fadhlina said the education ministry will not compromise on any bullying incidents occurring in educational institutions under its supervision.
The ministry will take steps to further improve the guidelines for managing school bullying to more comprehensively address and prevent such incidents, she added.
Recently there was an incident where a student from SMJK Krian was bullied by two fellow female students.
The two bullies have since been expelled for bullying.
