Pas offers three names for Nenggiri, at odds with Bersatu

Gua Musang Pas has submitted three names to the party’s state chapter for the Nenggiri state by-election which sets the party at odds with its ally, Bersatu.

Division chief Azman Ahmad said all three names are locals and are part of the party leadership.

“We are still hopeful that our candidate will be chosen because, based on the feedback, voters no longer want to support Bersatu,” he said, reported FMT.

He is also hopeful that Bersatu steps aside from the by-election to allow Pas contest the seat.

Kelantan Bersatu chief Kamaruddin Nor however was offended as the Gua Musang Pas division did not officially notify Perikatan Nasional (PN).

Pas and Bersatu are part of the federal opposition alliance.

The Pas leader also spoke about using the Pas moon symbol
“In my opinion, using the moon symbol is more fitting in Gua Musang because when the locals here see the moon logo, it immediately lifts their spirits,” Azman said.

“With the PN logo, they don’t feel the same excitement.”

Yesterday Pas vice president Datuk Mohamad Amar Abdullah denied the pixelated PN logo on his social media were signs of strains within the coalition.

The Nenggiri by-election is being called after state speaker declared the seat as vacant.

Its incumbent assemblyman Azizi Abu Naim was a Bersatu rep but became friendly of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s administration.

Umno too has issued three names for this by-election.
