‘Padayappa’ promises to make a political comeback, woos Sungai Bakap Indians

Umno’s ‘Padayappa’ Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Rahim has promised to make a political comeback soon as he wooed Indian voters in Sungai Bakap.

The former Baling MP also paraphrased lines from the popular Tamil movie, Padayappa.

“God did not forsake us. We will come back stronger.

“Padayappa has its own way. We will serve the people. That is certain.

“You may be dark but vote strongly. Only then people will prosper.”

He said this at a function jointly organised by PH and BN for Indians in Sungai Bakap.

Padayappa is a super hit mass movie starring Rajinikanth that was produced in 1999.

Indians make up 17% of the voters in the semi urban seat in Penang.

The Sungai Bakap by-election is set to take place tomorrow, in a straight fight between PKR’s Dr Joohari Ariffin who represents PH-BN and Abidin Ismail of Pas representing PN

Its incumbent Zamri Latiff died on May 24.
