Sim confirms MACC report to be lodged over HRD Corp bungle
Human Resources Minister Steven Sim has confirmed that a report will be lodged to the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) will be lodged soon over the findings of the Public Accounts Committee and National Audit Department on irregularities in Human Resources Development Corporation (HRD Corp).
The MACC reports would be lodged by the ministry’s secretary-general Khairul Dzaimee Daud and HRD Corp chief executive Shahul Hameed Dawood.
“The ministry takes the report by the national audit department and PAC very seriously. The auditing process covers HRD Corp’s operations from 2019 to 2023,” Sim said in a statement.
The Auditor – General’s (A-G) 2024 report released yesterday recommended the ministry to refer the matter to enforcement agencies as HRD Corp failed its audit.
The actions and decisions by its management did not comply with procedures and failed to protect the interests necessary for achieving HRD Corp’s objectives.
PAC also revealed that the company’s investment panel had not reported its investment activities appropriately to its board of directors, with levies collected “aggressively” used for high-risk investments.
Similarly, the A-G’s report said HRD Corp had amended its key performance indicator goals for 2020 to 2023 without the approval of its board of directors.
