PAJSK data will be reevaluated

The Ministry of Education (MoE) will reevaluate the Physical Activity, Sports, and Co-Curriculum Assessment (PAJSK) data for 2023 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) students whose scores were excluded from university applications.

MoE announced via a statement today that the data will be submitted to the University Central Unit (UPU) to match candidates with further study opportunities based on their qualifications and available program vacancies.

“The ministry takes the issue of excluded PAJSK scores seriously.

“Immediate action has been taken to reassess the PAJSK data of affected candidates,” MoE said, reported Bernama.

The ministry stated that it is conducting a thorough investigation and implementing intervention measures to prevent a recurrence of this issue.

The merit score for SPM graduates applying through the UPU system includes 10% of their co-curriculum scores and their exam results.

Reports indicate that some SPM holders had their PAJSK scores overlooked in UPU applications, resulting in either rejection from higher education institutions or offer for less preferred courses.
