Azmawi – BN’s candidate for Nenggiri?

Despite having three viable candidates, Gua Musang Umno division submitted only one name as the BN candidate for the Nenggiri by-election – Gua Musang Umno Youth chief Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani.

A Gua Musang division leader who did not want to be named revealed that Azmawi received the blessings of Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah who has been Gua Musang MP until 2022 and the force behind the division in Kelantan.

Azmawi is also Kelantan Umno Youth chief.

“After the final discussion Gua Musang decided to submit Azmawi’s name to our president, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

“He was chosen because he is young, has been working on the ground for a long time and is well known to the locals,” he said, FMT reported.

Kelantan Umno information deputy chief Noor Hariri Mohamed Noor however threw caution to air as the candidate has not been finalised officially.

“We shall wait for the president to decide and announce the candidate on 17 July.

The Nenggiri by-election was called after Kelantan state assembly speaker Datuk Amar Abdullah declared the seat vacant following Bersatu’s decision to boot out its representative, Azizi Abu Naim.

Nomination for the Nenggiri by-election is scheduled to take place on August 3. The by-election is scheduled for 17 Aug.
