Conditions for funds to RIBI wasn’t tightened
Federal Territories Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa denied that the Implementation and Coordination Unit in the Prime Minister’s Department tightened conditions for the channelling of funds to Non-Muslim Places of Worship (RIBI).
“The conditions remain the same as it was previously and the allocation fund channelling is coordinated by the ICU to RIBI, based on guidelines and regulations of the government,” she said in a written reply to Datuk Seri Dr Wee Jeck Seng.
Wee asked the government to rationalise its action of tightening the condition for allocation channelling to RIBI under ICU and whether the government would ease the condition and fundings.
Zaliha added that allocations can be considered for a committee or an association that manages places of worship that is registered with Companies Commission or the Registrar of Societies.
“Any physical project must be carried on a legitimate site. For example a land that belonged to the devotees association or on a government land with the approval of the state authorities.”
“Similar conditions are used by Housing and Local Government Ministry for the ministry’s RIBI Maintenance Initiative application.”
