Anwar to meet with late Beng Hock’s family on August 1

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to meet with the late Teoh Beng Hock’s family at 3:00 PM on August 1.

Beng Hock’s sister, Lee Lan, revealed that Anwar’s political secretary, Chan Ming Kai, had informed her about the confirmed date and time, although the location is yet to be finalised.

“We are arranging for the meeting, tentatively set for August 1st at 3:00 PM, with the exact location still pending,” she said, reported Oriental Daily.

On July 16, 2009, Beng Hock, a former aide to DAP politician Ean Yong Hian Wah, was found dead shortly after being interrogated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

Teoh Beng Hock Association for Democratic Advancement (TBH-ADA) deemed his death suspicious and called for an investigation into Teoh’s death to uncover the truth.

Lee Lan led a “Walk of Justice” to Parliament on July 15. The event was organised by the TBH-ADA. Their aim was to deliver a memorandum directly to the prime minister, but police blocked their path with a human barrier roughly 100 meters from the gates.
