Bagan MP Guan Eng assists students in the lurch to get into matriculation programme
Bagan MP Lim Guan Eng assisted Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) students with 10‘A’s in his constituency to get placements in the matriculation programme.
“All 80 students with 10’A’s from the Bagan parliamentary constituency, including the initial 7 students who did not receive acceptance letters, have now been admitted to matriculation programme.
“In Penang, 21 out of 22 students with 10‘A’s from Chung Ling High School and Penang Chinese Girls’ High School have received their matriculation offers,” he said via Facebook post.
He said he is working to secure matriculation acceptance for the last student.
“I am working on getting the remaining students to be accepted for matriculation. Kudos to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (PMX) and Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh,” he said.
On June 30, Anwar announced that students with 10 or more ‘A’s in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) could enter the matriculation programme regardless of race or socioeconomic status.
This announcement led to a surge in appeals to the education ministry for matriculation enrollment.
