Loke: Embrace China’s culture and business

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said Malaysia needs to understand China’s culture and not only do business with them.

He said this is important as both nations are committed to strengthening economic and political ties and promoting greater cultural exchange.

“In addition to doing business with each other, we also need to understand each other’s cultures.”

“The leaders of both countries also emphasised the importance of promoting mutual understanding from a cultural perspective, which is crucial,” he said, reported Sin Chew Daily.

He said this yesterday at the opening ceremony of the 50th Anniversary of the Malaysia-China Cultural Exchange Exhibition.

Loke highlighted the significant cultural exchange taking place at the exhibition among artists from both countries, emphasising its profound significance.

Loke further mentioned that both countries’ leaders encourage people-to-people exchanges, facilitated by visa-free policies that promote visits between the two nations.

Loke said that Chinese Premier Li Qiang’s recent official visit to Malaysia reflects a commitment to stronger bilateral relations.

He noted that leaders from both countries have reached a consensus to enhance economic, trade, and political cooperation.

This ties in with the 14 memoranda of understanding and cooperation agreements signed between Malaysia and China last month, which include a deal for exporting fresh Malaysian fruits to China.

It was reported yesterday that the government is mulling over a proposed new policy called Cooperation with the East which would encompass China in addition to the countries already included in the Look East Policy framework.
