X has a 25% compliance rate only
X – the social media platform owned by Elon Musk is the worst social media platform in terms of complying to the government’s requests as the government sought action against harmful online content.
Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said X merely reached a compliance rate of 25% even though the government raised issues via Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission on issues such as cyberbullying and pornographic material.
“Some social media platforms have been fast to respond to the MCMC’s call for action while some have delayed their responses (to the MCMC) and others have not acceded to requests (to take down harmful content).
“Some platforms have willingly cooperated (with the MCMC’s requests for action against such content) while others have provided very unsatisfactory cooperation.
“It can be said that we are not satisfied with platforms that have a compliance rate of less than 79%,” the minister told a press conference at his ministry’s headquarters in Putrajaya today.
The top three social media platforms that scored above 79% are Instagram 88%, Facebook, 85% and WhatsApp 79%.
TikTok obtained 76% and Telegram 65% compliance rates.
