Four suspects in Albertine kidnapping case may be released
Johor State Police Chief M. Kumar announced that four of the five suspects in the kidnapping of Albertine Leo Jia Hui could be released on police bail when their remand period expires tomorrow (July 26).
“The remand period for four of the suspects ends tomorrow. We may release them under police bail if they are no longer needed to assist in the investigation.
“However, it all depends on the progress of the investigation,” he said, reported The Star.
He added that the remand period of the remaining suspect will end on July 29.
He said that the motive for the kidnapping and the connections between the five suspects remain under investigation.
“Investigations are still ongoing. Once it has been completed, we will call for a press conference to share more about the case,” he said.
The girl went missing during an event at Eco Galleria in Iskandar Puteri on July 20.
At the time her 37-year-old mother was managing a booth at the busy venue.
On July 22, police detained four suspects, including two men and two women aged between 28 and 55, in Iskandar Puteri and Johor Bahru.
By July 23, Albertine was found safe and unharmed at a budget hotel in Batang Kali, Selangor, approximately 370 kilometres from where she was last seen.
In the same budget hotel room, police arrested a 31-year-old man during the raid.
