Mother thanks police after daughter’s safe return

Leo Qiao Xin, mother of six-year-old  Albertine Leo Jia Hui, who was kidnapped on July 20, thanked the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for rescuing her daughter.

“I am Jia Hui’s mother. After regaining my composure, I am back at work. 

“I am deeply grateful and very thankful. 

“I also want to thank our amazing PDRM for their excellent work,” she said via Facebook post. 

“My daughter is safe and back with me. Thank you to all the netizens and friends who helped by sharing and searching for my daughter,” she also said. 

Albertine was reported missing at 8:30 p.m. on July 20.

At the time she was attending the Bon Odori Japanese festival held at the Eco Galleria in Iskandar Puteri, Johor Bahru.

Following her disappearance, police detained three suspects, two men and one woman, in the Gelang Patah area at 1:30 p.m. on Monday for questioning.

The next day, at 12:15 am, another female suspect was also arrested.

Albertine was safely located on July 23 at a budget hotel in Batang Kali, Selangor, about 370 kilometres from her last known location. 

The 31-year-old suspect apprehended at 4:45 a.m. on Tuesday at the same hotel, remains in custody and is under remand.

The four other suspects who were remanded in connection with the kidnapping of six-year-old Albertine have been released on bail today.
