Modi: Pakistan attempting to stay relevant via terrorism, proxy war

Pakistan was trying to stay relevant through “terrorism” and “proxy war” but such a strategy would never succeed, said Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

This is especially in the case of Kashmir for which both the countries had to gone to war twice.

“I want to tell these patrons of terrorism that their unholy plans will never be successful…Our brave (forces) will squash terrorism, the enemy will be given a befitting reply.

“They have not learned anything from its history,” Modi said at an event marking the 25th anniversary of India’s short military conflict with Pakistan.

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry meanwhile stood its ground with its intent to “safeguard its sovereignty against any aggression”.

“While Pakistan is ready to counter India’s aggressive actions, it remains committed to promoting peace and stability in the region,” the foreign ministry said.

Recent militant attacks on Hindu pilgrims in the Hindu majority Jammu that led to the death of a dozen Indian soldiers have been linked to Islamabad.

Earlier this year Islamabad claimed that they had evidence of the involvement of Indian agents in the killings of individuals deemed as a threat to India on Pakistani soil.

New Delhi termed the accusations as fake.
