PN conspires to create wedge between BN and PH in Nenggiri
Perikatan Nasional (PN) is attempting to create a wedge between Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) by spreading smear campaigns.
Kelantan Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub dismissed rumours that he instructed PKR members against wearing PH shirts while campaigning in Nenggiri.
“This is a smear campaign and dirty political conspiracy by the opposition.
“I strongly deny these statements.
“The entire machinery of the unity government remains determined and focused on winning the BN candidate for the Nenggiri state seat,” he said in a Facebook post.
Since yesterday afternoon, a malicious message has circulated on WhatsApp and Telegram, falsely alleging that Jazlan banned PKR members from wearing PH t-shirts and instructed them to only wear Umno, BN, and other shirts while campaigning in Nenggiri.
The Nenggiri state by-election in Kelantan is scheduled for August 17, with early voting on August 13 and nominations on August 3.
In this constituency, around 2,700 registered Orang Asli voters make up 13.84% of the electorate. Malays form the majority at 85.93%, while the Chinese and Indian populations are minimal at 0.20% and 0.03%, respectively.
Bersatu has nominated former navy officer Mohd Rizwadi Ismail for the by-election, while Umno has selected its Kelantan Umno Youth chief, Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani, to represent the unity government.
