US neither involved nor aware of Haniyeh’s death.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed that the America was neither involved nor aware of the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.
“This is something we were not aware of or involved in.
It’s very hard to speculate,” Blinken told Channel News Asia in Singapore.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards confirmed Haniyeh’s death in the early hours of Wednesday morning, shortly after the Hamas leader attended the swearing in ceremony of Iran’s new president.
Blinken also declined to speculate on the impact of Haniyeh’s death on the ongoing Hamas-Israel conflict.
“It’s vitally important to hopefully put things on a better path for more enduring peace and more enduring security, so that focus remains.”
