Why Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated in Tehran?

While Israel has not taken responsibility for the assassination of Hamas top leader Ismail Haniyeh, reports have emerged that the assassination was carried out in Tehran to put Iran under the spotlight.

Sources in the Middle East had told the media that Tehran was chosen as the spot because Haniyeh was under Iran’s security.

They had chosen Tehran over Beirut and Doha for two reasons: “first to take out the chief of Hamas but mainly to place Iran at the centre of dilemma of the future and to what intensity will it raise the height of flames in the Middle East.”

The sources are also expecting Iran based Hezbollah to tell Hamas to end the war with Israel and release the hostages.

Following the death of Haniyeh, Khalid Meshaal is most likely to take over the top position in Hamas.
