Investigation papers of Albertine Leo kidnapping submitted to AGC
Bukit Aman CID Director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain announced that the police have submitted the investigation papers to the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) regarding the kidnapping of six-year-old Albertine Leo Jia Hui.
Leo was discovered in a budget hotel in Batang Kali with the arrested suspect after missing for days.
“The papers have been submitted for charging. It’s a straightforward case to me and the suspect was caught red-handed.
“As far as police investigations are concerned, the case is settled,” he said.
He added that he was aware of public concern as a slew of missing persons cases were also reported around the same time of her kidnapping.
“Yes we can see a slight increase but it is not yet worrying. Around 90% of cases were solved as many had run away following friends and likewise,” he said.
Leo went missing during an event at Eco Galleria, Iskandar Puteri, on the evening of Saturday, July 20.
On July 22, police arrested four suspects—two men and two women aged between 28 and 55—in Iskandar Puteri and Johor Bahru.
The following day, on July 23, Albertine was found unharmed at a budget hotel in Batang Kali, Selangor, approximately 370 kilometres from where she was last seen.
During the raid, authorities also detained a 31-year-old man who was found in the same hotel room as Albertine.
