Suspect in Albertine Leo’s case re-arrested

The 31-year-old suspect involved in the case of the missing 6-year-old girl Albertine Leo has been re-arrested by the police to assist with the investigation, said Johor police chief Commissioner M. Kumar. 

“We have re-arrested the local male suspect who was previously detained in connection with the kidnapping incident at Eco Galeria, Iskandar Puteri, on July 20, today. 

“Investigations will be conducted under Section 10 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 for accessing or possessing child sexual abuse material and Section 292 of the Penal Code for possessing obscene material,” he said in a press statement.

Items such as sex toys, adult pornography, and materials related to child sexual abuse were found at the suspect’s home.

Prior to this, the suspect had been granted bail by the police.

Tomorrow the suspect is expected to be produced in court to obtain a new remand order.

He is the fifth individual apprehended in connection with the case of the missing 6-year-old girl, Leo. 

He was last brought before the Johor Magistrate Court on July 29, where his detention was extended for an additional 6 days.

He was initially arrested in a budget hotel in Batang Kali, Selangor, at around 4:45 a.m. on July 23.

Leo was reported missing on July 20 around 8:30 PM at the Eco Galleria business centre in Iskandar Puteri. 

She was rescued on July 23 from a budget hotel in Batang Kali, Selangor, approximately 370 kilometres from her last known location.

The fifth suspect was apprehended at 4:45 AM on Tuesday at the same budget hotel where Leo was found.
